  1. National Topographic Database,NTDB

    1. Topographic Database at scales 1:25 000 and 1:50 000

Preparation of the latest series of base maps covering whole Nepal was completed in 2001.Out of 14 Zones,Lumbini Zone was mapped at scale 1:25 000 during ‎1989 - 1993(81 map sheets) based on aerial Photographs taken in 1989. Eastern Nepal was mapped at scales 1:25 000 and 1:50 000 during ‎1992 -1997(255 map sheets at scale 1:25 000 and 37 map sheets at scale 1:50 000)based on aerial Photographs taken in 1992. Remaining parts of the country was mapped at scales 1:25 000 and 1:50 000 during ‎1996 -2001(254 map sheets at scale 1:25:000 and 79 map sheets at scale 1:50 000) based on aerial Photographs taken in 1996. The high mountain and Himalaya region of the country have been covered by maps at scale 1:50 000 and the rest by the maps at scale 1:‎25 000 000.

The contents of each of those maps have been converted into digital data in PC ARCINFO coverage format. The map sheets layout system of Lumbini Zone has been modified to comply with that of remaining map sheets. The extent of each data set at scale is 1:25 000 is 7' 30"*7' 30" and for scale 1:50 000 it is 15'*15'. Altogether there are 678 digital datasets (area covered by each map sheets)to cover whole country. The data are in modified Universal Transverse Mercator Projection system.

    1. Topographic Database at scales 1:100 000

To fulfill the growing demand of the day users, NGID has produced the digital data at scale 1:100 000 on the basis of sheets data at scale 1:25 000 and 1:50 000. The extent of each data set at scale 1:100 000 is 30'*30' and there are 82 digital data sets to cover whole country. The data (ArcView shape files) are in geographic coordinate system (latitude and longitude).

    1. Topographic Database at scales 1:250 000

One of the products made available to data users by NGID is the digital data sets at scale 1:250 000. The extent of each data set at scale 1:250 000 is 1 in latitude and 1 in longitude and there are 28 digital data sets to cover whole country. The data (ArcView shape files) are in geographic coordinate system (latitude and longitude).

    1. Topographic Database at scales 1:500 000

One of the products made available to data users by NGID is the digital data sets at scale 1:500 000. The extent of each data set at scale 1:500 000 is 2 in latitude and 2 in longitude and there are 11 digital data sets to cover whole country. The data (ArcView shape files)are in geographic coordinate system (latitude and longitude)

    1. Topographic Database at scales 1:‎1 000 000

One of the products made available to data users by NGID is the digital data sets at scale 1:‎1 000 000. The data set at scale 1:‎1 000 000 covers whole country in a single sheet. The data (ArcView shape files) are in geographic coordinate system (latitude and longitude)  and now it can be downloaded from website.

    1. Administrative Boundary

Metropolitan City, sub-metropolitan City, Municipality and Rural Municipality with was level administrative Boundary is now available from the division. it can also be downloaded from the website.

  1. Orthophoto

    1. Hardcopy map

Orthophoto maps (hard copy maps)at scales 1:5 000 ( for core urban areas) and 1:10 000 (for sub urban areas) are also available. These maps are prepared from the aerial photographs taken during late 1990's

The hard copy printout of these orthophoto maps are available at a price of Rs 1000 per sheet.

The orthophoto maps contains settlement names, temples, school, river names, road names etc. as well. The coordinate grid shown are as per the modified UTM projection system.

Digital orthophoto image data of sub urban and core urban areas maintained in tiles conforming to map layout at scales 1: 10 000 and 1:5 000 scales respectively are also available. Each orthophoto image data at scale 1:5 000 ( covering 6.25 Km2 of core urban areas) costs RS. 3,125. Similarly, each orthophoto image data at scale 1: 10 000 (covering 25km2 of sub urban areas) costs RS 5,000.00.
